JoA little about my work

Product thinker. Designer. Hands-on builder.

I work where product decisions become real software.

I like getting into the details: what people are trying to do, where they get stuck, and what we can make better.

My work moves from customer research and data to product decisions, experience design and production code. Currently at Xero, and independently building Uxi.

Here’s how that looks in practice ↓

XeroGlobal payroll payments
01

Pay employees directly in payroll, globally.

I led discovery and design from 0→1 for UK wage payments, moving from manual bank file exports to native in-app payments. For AU superannuation, I led discovery and design for Payday Super compliance changes and modernisation.

Can I pay my employees without leaving payroll?

0→1 discovery and design: bring wage payments into the pay run, with bank capability and authorisation made clear before setup.

XeroDesign engineering
02

From idea to shipped feature.

I help define design-to-code skills and harness workflows, then use them to modernise real product UI: identifying the problem, shaping the fix, implementing frontend changes and raising production PRs.

Make agent work reviewable.

My independent exploration of how people direct AI agents. Uxi brings plans, actions, evidence and human checkpoints into a shared workflow, so people can understand the work and change its course.

Notes to think with

The thinking
behind the making.

Questions I keep coming back to as I design and build.

A good agent workflow needs more than an approval button.

A design system can make the interface look right. Understanding the person, their decisions and the moments that go wrong is what makes the experience work.

Away from the canvas

Still curious,

A person behind the pixels.

I enjoy travelling, getting lost in music, playing tennis and hacking on new technology. I like finding out how things work — and seeing what happens when I try them myself.

That curiosity follows me into my work. I’m happiest when I can understand a problem deeply, make something tangible, and learn from how people actually use it.

A different place. A different perspective.
